Privacy Policy

Overview

Habit AI is an iPhone and iPad habit tracker built by Cognitain, based in India. This policy describes exactly what data the app handles, where it goes, and the controls you have. Two design decisions shape everything below:

  • Offline-first. The app is fully usable without an account. If you never sign in, your habit data stays on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
  • On-device AI.All AI features run locally on your device using Apple's Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). We operate no AI servers, and no data is sent to any AI service.

Data stored on your device

Habit AI stores the following locally on your device, whether or not you have an account:

  • Habit definitions: name, description, category, color, icon, target value and unit, frequency, and per-habit reminder times.
  • Daily entries: completion status, logged values (e.g. minutes, quantities, 1–5 ratings), optional notes, and an optional mood rating.
  • Body measurements: weight, tape measurements (chest, waist, biceps, thighs), wellness and adherence scores, and notes.
  • App settings: theme, weight unit, dashboard preferences, and notification preferences.

Your device is the source of truth. Deleting the app deletes this local data.

Optional account and cloud sync

Signing in is optional and skippable. When you choose to sign in, we support only Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In, handled through Firebase Authentication (a Google service). We never see or store a password.

When you are signed in, the following syncs to Google's Firebase Realtime Database under your account, so you can back up and restore your data across devices:

  • Your habits and daily entries (including habit names, values, notes, and mood ratings).
  • Your body measurements.
  • Your profile: display name and email address from your sign-in provider.
  • Your app settings (theme, weight unit, notification preference).
  • Your subscription and trial record (plan, purchase and expiry dates, trial start date).

Sync happens when you open the app, once daily in the background (around 11:30 PM), and when you pull to refresh the Today screen. Signed-out users sync nothing. Data in Firebase is stored on Google servers, which may be located outside your country.

On-device AI (Apple Intelligence)

Habit AI's AI features — the AI coach insight, creating habits from natural language, and activity-log summaries — run entirely on your device using Apple's Foundation Models framework. No habit data, prompt, or generated output leaves your device for AI processing. These features require iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence available; on other devices they simply do not appear, and the app falls back to rule-based, non-AI insights computed locally.

Apple Health (optional)

If you connect Apple Health, Habit AI reads — never writes — steps, active energy, sleep, water, and mindful minutes to auto-complete matching habits. Raw Health samples are never uploaded and are excluded from CSV exports. If a Health metric fills in a habit entry's value, that entry is stored like any manually logged entry (and syncs to your cloud backup if you are signed in). You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Health app.

Analytics and crash reporting

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand usage and fix crashes. Analytics events include screen views, rating-prompt interactions, and habit activity events (habit completed, habit logged) — these events include the habit's name and category, so if you name habits with personal information, that name is included in analytics data. Crashlytics collects device and crash diagnostics when the app crashes. This data is processed by Google and retained according to Google's data retention policies. We use no advertising SDKs, show no ads, and never sell your data.

Notifications

Habit reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device at the times you choose per habit. They require your permission, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings. We do not send remote push notifications.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Apple handles your payment details; we never receive them. We store a record of your entitlement (plan, purchase and expiry dates) in your account's cloud data so your purchase follows you across devices — for this reason, purchasing requires signing in. See our Subscription Terms.

Service providers

  • Google LLC — Firebase Authentication, Firebase Realtime Database (cloud sync), Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics.
  • Apple Inc. — App Store payments and StoreKit, Sign in with Apple, on-device Apple Intelligence, and Apple Health (data read on device only).

Your controls

  • Export: Settings → Export to CSV gives you a copy of your habits, entries, and analytics at any time.
  • Delete your account and data in-app: Settings → Account & Sync → Delete Account. See Account Deletion for the exact steps and what is removed.
  • Sign out at any time to stop all cloud sync while keeping local data.
  • Control Health access and notifications through iOS Settings.

Data retention

Local data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Cloud-synced data is kept until you delete your account, at which point your data on our Firebase database is deleted. Aggregated analytics and crash diagnostics are retained by Google according to Google's retention policies and are not connected to your account deletion. See Data Usage for a category-by-category table.

Children

Habit AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
